Welcome to Electrical Safety World!

Electricity powers the appliances and computers that surround kids, and they encounter cords, outlets, and power lines every day. Electrical Safety World teaches children in grades 3 through 7 the important safety skills they need to make good choices around electricity.

Electrical Safety World offers more than safety tips and warnings. The site engages a child's imagination with interactive games, fun experiments, and hands-on activities, so that kids learn how to prevent injuries and save lives. The site also enhances children's science education with standards-based learning activities.

Children's interactive learning experience on this website can be amplified with parental guidance. Please print the following checklists and use them together with your child to reinforce key safety skills:

Electrical Home Safety Inspection
Power Outage Safety Checklist
Safe Tree Planting Checklist

Electrical safety is a critical issue for upper elementary and middle school children. While they may be capable of helping with chores and yard work, they are often casual about following safety precautions. In fact, in the United States each year, electrical shock or burns injure more than 4,000 children and kill about 25 kids under age 15.
